9 (NINE) BANDS MAKE IT TO FINAL

After a tough battle of 19 bands,  nine bands were selected for the final round of this year’s Hornbill National Rock Contest 2008. The nine selected bands for the grand finale were The Verbs (Meghalaya) , OFF (Nagaland) , Music Safari winners Diatribe (Nagaland), Eximious (Nagaland), Maestro (Assam) , Northwind (Tura ,Meghalaya) , 24 x7 (Pune, Maharastra), Alien Gods (Arunachal Pradesh) and Melodrama (Nagaland).
Grand Finale: The Bands competed on the 7th of December at the Local Ground, Kohima to a crowd of over 10,000 in attendance. After 4 hours of gruelling battle on stage, three bands were finally adjudged the best of the best . The Verbs from Meghalaya got the 1st Prize and walked away with a cash award of Rs. 5 Lacs. Diatribe of Nagaland got the 2nd Prize with a cash award of Rs. 1.5 Lacs and Eximious from Nagaland were adjudged the 3rd best with a cash award of Rs. 1 Lac.
